To troubleshoot a BlackBerry® PlayBook™ tablet that fails to boot up, please try the following action to resolve the issue.
Topic 1: Tablet won’t boot up
Verify that the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet displays a flashing yellow LED when charging
When the user tries to turn on the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet, verify that the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet displays a flashing yellow LED when charging.
If the user sees a red flashing LED in the sequence of blink, blink, and pause, which then repeats, update the BlackBerry® PlayBook™ OS to 2.0.
Note: It can take up to an hour to complete the BlackBerry PlayBook OS update.
Update the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet software from the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet
- Turn on the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet and connect to a hotspot.
- If a software update is available, you automatically receive a notification.
- Tap the software notification icon located near the upper right of the screen, and follow the instructions to download the most recent software available.
- Note: If the wireless software update does not install, try to connect to a different hotspot.
- Reset the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet after the update is complete.
- Note: After the installation is complete, you may be prompted to restart the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet to complete the update.
Note: The BlackBerry PlayBook tablet must be plugged in and have at least 20% battery life to complete the update.
If the issue is still not resolved, contact BlackBerry Support to service or return the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet (BlackBerry Support provides 90 days of complimentary support).
